- Deoghar Airport is a domestic airport serving Deoghar in the state of Jharkhand, India. It is situated approximately 12 kilometres from the city centre1
- The airport has been primarily developed to serve the region of North-Eastern part of Jharkhand and some districts of West Bengal and Bihar. It also caters to millions of pilgrims of Baidyanath Temple, a prominent religious site1
- The airport is spread over 654 acres of land and has a 2,500 meter long runway, capable of handling Airbus A320, A321 and Boeing 737 type of aircraft12
- The airport has a terminal building with an area of 4,000 square meters, with six check-in counters and two arrival belts. The facility can handle a peak load of 200 passengers per hour. The interiors of the airport depict local tribal arts, handicrafts and culture34
- The airport was constructed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Jharkhand government. The project cost was more than Rs 400 crore42
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the airport on 25 May 2018, and inaugurated it on 12 July 2022145
- The airport is connected to New Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad under the government’s regional connectivity scheme UDAN. Indigo Airlines is the only airline that operates flights to and from Deoghar Airport67
